Kellie Pickler is among "American Idol's" top performers, even though she didn't win the show's title. Her birth name was Kellie Dawn Pickler the 28th of June 1986 at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. The couple had her mother who was 16 years old. Pickler's childhood was difficult because her father had a relapse to alcohol and drugs and her mother had left her in the age of just two. Morton had the opportunity to take control of Pickler for two years. But, Pickler acknowledged that not everything was going well. "I recall that my mother and me were in the same kitchen, when I told her that "I'd rather be dead than there with you. I would like God could take me away.' The girl pulled off a knife from the kitchen and placed it in the middle of the counter. And she then told her: "Here you go." I was in fourth grade. Naturally, I wouldn't had acted on it and it's caused me some emotional wounds," she said. The judge eventually remitted Pickler to her parents when she turned 12 years old and Morton was not present to the court trial. Pickler has cited her grandparents as the main influential figures throughout her life was a child of the grandparents. In January 2002, her maternal grandmother Faye Pickler passed away from lung cancer. The family she was raised by was her grandfather. Pickler received her diploma from North Stanly High School which is located in New London, North Carolina.
