The shadows she observed on the lawn prompted her to spend months developing the technique that, however, did not paint the object she chose onto canvas. The subject instead transforms into a reproduction of itself and the canvas transforms into the medium for it's individual interpretation of the subject, particularly when the subjects are living or perishable items for example, like humans or fruits. Her ephemeral art style is apparent and what survives in Alexa Meade's art is a photograph. Trompe l'oeil can be achieved using the two processes of photographing and painting. It creates two-dimensional flattened picture. Meade has integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3D space that surrounds them. Their interaction as well as the world they created is possible. The boundaries between performance, photography, installation and painting can be dissolved.
